  • Lead and support a global development team while staying hands-on
  • Magento 2 experience ideal, or learn it with full support
  • Hybrid, Wellington-based role
About the Company:

Our client is a global business that provides a wide range of business services to their customers all around the world. They are looking for a Technical Lead to join their Global Web Development team, who is responsible for building modern, scalable web platforms. With a focus on collaboration, Agile delivery, and strong engineering values, the company supports modern development practices and is preparing for exciting platform changes ahead.

About the Role:

This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone who can guide and coach a distributed team, but also jump into the code when needed. You'll provide technical direction, ensure high-quality delivery on a Magento 2 platform, and work closely with DevOps, QA, and product teams. You will be accountable for quality, scalability, improving code quality, reducing QA rejections, and developer engagement.

You will have distributed leadership across team members in Vietnam, Philippines, UK and India, and direct collaboration with the Product Manager, Scrum Master, TA, QA and DevOps. While eCommerce is currently a component (30%) of the platform, the team is preparing for broader architectural changes, including modularisation and a potential shift toward a new content architecture. You’ll play a key part in shaping how that evolution unfolds, but you won’t be expected to define or lead it alone.

Skills & Experience Required:
  • Proven experience leading full-stack web development teams
  • Comfortable being hands-on with PHP, MySQL, JavaScript (React, KnockoutJS)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices
  • Experience working with offshore teams.
  • Agile delivery experience across global teams
  • Strong coaching, mentoring, and people leadership abilities
  • Magento 2 experience
  • Degree in Computer Science or a related field
Why Work Here?
  • Hybrid working - 4 days in the office and one day working from home.
  • Balance technical direction with hands-on coding when needed
  • Contribute to upcoming architecture changes and platform improvements
  • Learn Magento 2 or grow your expertise further
  • Strong team culture with mentoring and development focus
  • Opportunity to make a real impact in a modern tech environment
  • A generous and comprehensive benefits package
  • Incentive program
  • Office lunches three times per week
  • State of the art office and equipment
