About the Role:
As the Product Owner, you’ll be the go-to expert on Australian Payroll within the product development team. You'll lead product discovery, prioritisation, and delivery, working with developers, designers, marketers, and CX to deliver features that truly matter to users and align with business goals.
Our client has taken the bold step of building an
entirely new system from scratch for the AU market; this is not a spin-off of an existing tool. It's a clean-slate product designed to handle things the right way from day one, with full ownership of compliance, automation, and operational logic.
This is a standalone role in Australia (for now), but you’ll be backed by a full NZ-based product and engineering team. You’ll be supported by senior leadership, including regular AU visits, and plugged into a wider culture that values clarity, pace, and ownership.
What you'll be doing: - Act as the domain expert in Australian payroll and compliance.
- Be the go-to person for clarity around award interpretation and regulatory nuance.
- Help document and clarify requirements for engineers and stakeholders.
- Build a shared understanding of product scope across the business.
- Proactively identify gaps, unblock work, and contribute to high-quality delivery.
- Support the team in anticipating and responding to user needs.
- Contribute to customer insights and feedback loops to support product evolution.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with design, engineering, support, and sales.
