We're looking for a frontend-leaning fullstack engineer who enjoys working across the stack and wants to improve a well-established product with a strong technical foundation. If you're someone who can navigate legacy code, spot opportunities for improvement, and cares about clean, thoughtful interfaces, this could be a great fit.
The role leans heavily toward the frontend, with a focus on improving UI and user experience using
Vue,
JavaScript, and
CSS. That said,
PHP is non-negotiable here - the backend and templating layers do a lot of the heavy lifting, and you’ll need to be confident working in that environment. Most of the frontend is rendered server-side, so it’s important you’re comfortable making changes that span both sides of the stack.
This is a remote role based in NZ, working with a small and collaborative global team. The setup is async-friendly and fairly low on meetings, though there are a couple of calls outside standard hours each week. You’ll have a lot of ownership over your work and the flexibility to approach problems in your own way.
What you’ll be doing
- Improving and modernising frontend UI using Vue, JavaScript, and CSS
- Working closely with design to build and refine reusable components
- Making changes to PHP templates and backend logic to support frontend updates
- Contributing across the full stack where needed to ship end-to-end features
- Managing your own workflow in a remote team that values autonomy
What we’re looking for
- 6+ years of experience in fullstack roles with a solid frontend focus
- Strong experience with PHP, JavaScript, Vue, and CSS
- Comfortable working in large, mature codebases and making steady improvements
- Good understanding of design systems, frontend architecture, and UX
- Clear communicator who can work independently without a lot of oversight
The setup
- Fully remote, based in New Zealand
- Flexible hours with a couple of calls outside standard NZ time
- No fluff, just a small team building something solid
- If you’ve worked with analytics tools like Google Analytics, that’s a plus, but not required
If you're after a remote role with proper ownership and a mix of frontend and backend work (with PHP still in play), we’d love to hear from you.
