Our client is a well funded SaaS startup on a mission to revolutionise demand forecasting through AI and predictive analytics. About the Role:

The company is transitioning from manual, enterprise-scale data handling to scalable, automated backend systems. You’ll be the local engineering linchpin, replacing the former Data Engineering Lead role to take ownership of backend services and infrastructure orchestration.
Your mission will be to design and build robust backend systems that automate data ingestion, manage workflows, and support Python-based data pipelines. Working in tandem with offshore data engineers, you’ll drive a shift toward scalable infrastructure that reduces manual effort and increases efficiency across the platform.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Building APIs and backend jobs for ingesting and transforming customer data
Automating and monitoring data workflows built in Python
Developing internal tools and dashboards for operational efficiency
Enhancing onboarding systems to support customer self-service
Contributing to system design and long-term scalability planning
Collaborating cross-functionally to align backend architecture with product goals

Skills & Experience: Must-Have:

Strong experience in Node.js and TypeScript
Deep familiarity with AWS infrastructure (e.g. S3, Redshift, Lambda, Glue, RDS)
Practical understanding of SQL and data manipulation
Comfortable working alongside Python-based pipelines
Experience designing backend systems in data-heavy applications
Ability to work pragmatically in a hybrid local/offshore team model

Nice-to-Have:

Python scripting experience
Exposure to other cloud platforms (GCP, Azure)
Familiarity with data engineering concepts and workflows
Experience building internal tools or asynchronous job systems
