About the Company Kindo is New Zealand’s leading school payment and e-commerce platform, used by over 800 schools and supporting 400,000 students and families. What began as a grassroots idea to simplify school lunches has grown into a nationwide solution making school life easier, fairer, and more connected.
Following a recent $15 million Series A investment from Movac, the venture firm behind companies like Vend, Auror, and Trade Me, Kindo is entering an exciting new chapter. With a clear product-market fit and a deep understanding of what schools and families need, Kindo is scaling its platform, team, and impact. The focus now is on building smarter automation, improving reporting, deepening integrations, and strengthening community support.
About the Role
This is a senior individual-contributor role leading a squad, owning a meaningful slice of the Kindo experience end to end. You will spend more time in solution discovery than in delivery ceremony, bringing genuine customer signal and data to every decision. Kindo is hiring across three squads, and you only need to be a great fit for one. You will partner closely with the Chief Product Officer as a true thought partner and help raise the bar across the wider product practice.
The Squads
Kindo is hiring for three squads. They are:
- Marketplace: Owns the buying experience across caregivers, students, and vendors, from browsing and checkout through to vendor dashboards and order management, with a focus on growing discretionary spend.
- Family Experience: Owns the family-facing app across iOS, Android, and web, including payments, permissions, calendar, notifications, and the family hub, with a focus on retention and everyday usefulness.
- Financial Systems: Owns the billing and settlement platform behind it all, including payments, ledgers, reconciliations, payouts, the Xero integration, and the pricing engine the other squads build on.
Skills & Experience - 5+ years as a Product Manager on a software product with real users and real commercial pressure.
- A track record of leading squads, sharpening focus, and lifting the standard of those around you.
- A strong discovery muscle, shipping product built on real customer insight rather than stakeholder requests.
- Genuinely data-driven, comfortable in analytics tools and SQL, and able to connect data to commercial outcomes.
- Hands-on experience using AI tools like Claude to work faster and sharper across the product loop.
- A squad-specific edge: two-sided marketplace or e-commerce, consumer mobile at scale, or billing, payments, and fintech platforms.
- Bonus points for EdTech, FinTech, or NZ/AU consumer SaaS, and for working in a Series A to Series B scale-up.
Why Work Here? - Work on a platform already relied on by hundreds of thousands of New Zealand families.
- Series A funded with clear, product-led growth ambitions.
- A direct line to the CPO and real ownership of your squad's outcomes.
- A modern, AI-forward toolset: Claude, Dovetail, Figma, Jira, Notion, and Google Analytics.
- An Auckland office-first culture with flexibility when you need it.
- A values-led team that is kind, smart, and passionate, where those values shape how people work and treat each other.
- Work that lands in real communities and everyday school life, not slideware.
