We are working with a global SaaS company headquartered in Australia who have engineers across NZ and Australia.

Role:
As the subject matter expert in this space, you will have the unique opportunity to shape and elevate their data and ML strategy and architecture.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver high-quality data solutions.
  • Mentor a team of data and software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Design and implement scalable and efficient data pipelines to support data collection, ingestion, storage, processing, and analysis.
  • Develop and maintain data architectures, including databases, data lakes, and data warehouses.
  • Ensure data security and compliance with relevant regulations and best practices.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of data systems and infrastructure.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, UX/UI designers, and fellow engineers to deliver high-quality features and enhancements.
  • Ensure code quality through code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration practices, fostering a culture of excellence within the engineering team. 
Ideally, you'll have the following:
  • 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer - with significant data or machine learning experience
  • Solid understanding and experience in Machine Learning algorithms and models.
    • Understand the concept of transformers models such as GPT, BERT, RoBERTa, etc.
    • Experience in utilising open-source pre-trained models e.g. HuggingFace, OpenAI, etc.
    • Experience in deploying, maintaining, testing, and monitoring ML models as a service in real-life production environments.
    • Exposed to cloud-based ML services such as AWS Sagemaker or Bedrock is a plus.
  • Proficient knowledge of SQL and experience with relational and non-relational databases.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS) and data services.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to solve complex problems.
  • Knowledge of big data platforms (Snowflake ideal)
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
