Working as a Senior Developer, you’ll be a key part of an established Kiwi SaaS company. You’ll go out of your way to learn the best way to engineer code to contribute towards finding solutions to business challenges, take the lead in ensuring all code solves the user story, and think outside of the box to make your mark on the product. Their primary codebase is Ruby, but there are bits of Go, Erlang and others, with a culture of building what solves the problem best in a scalable, maintainable fashion.
Having moved to a remote operation through Covid, they are maintaining this setup as their primary structure. There are physical offices in Wellington and Auckland is that suits you and your life, but they are just has happy from you to operate from your home base.
The purpose of this role is to play your part in ensuring the technology is operated, maintained, and developed to a high standard, as well as future-proofing for scalability and flexibility. It requires a collaborator that can build and maintain positive working relationships with the other high-quality engineers and a scalability master to ensure the platform can continue to grow effectively.

We’re looking for a Senior Developer that is an expert Software Engineer with experience in a broad range of languages and frameworks (Ruby on Rails would be ideal) so that you’re able to use what’s required to get the job done. Ideally, you’ll also have some of the following attributes:
- Experience delivering production-grade code for at least one backend and front end platform or library
- Proficiency in developing and troubleshooting complex software, preferably in a Software-as-a-Service environment.
- Experience with open-source languages and SQL is a must, Ruby would be an advantage, even if that's not commercial
