  • Wide range of digital applications
  • Ownership of design process
  • Awesome team of people in a positive work environment
We’re looking for a digital Product Designer to join an exciting software house, well embedded in Wellington’s thriving tech and startup scene. You’ll work on a wide range of commercial projects, from proof of concept through to complex, polished web and mobile applications. With a focus on delivering efficient, well-crafted interfaces, with a range of user challenges, they are looking for someone who can combine great practical skills in UI and UX execution with effective research skills to underpin your work.

With two or three projects running across your desk at any time, you’ll be adaptable enough to navigate users and applications, designing contemporary, intuitive interfaces, supported by a strong team of engineers and a truly collaborative environment. This is certainly not the place where you’ll be banging your head against management wanting ‘the same but better’. You’ll create something great, support the dev team through the build and then settle down with a fresh brief.

Squads are tight, working closely on shared projects, with lots of support to get you up and running. They are in a really well curated environment, with a tech startup feel and an attitude that feels casual, but with a very serious view on quality delivery.

Key responsibilities
  • Create user experiences and interfaces that are beautiful and usable.
  • Lead user research, user interviews and prototyping initiatives.
  • Use data to inform and influence product development.
  • Champion discovery, design thinking and appropriate design processes.
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to enable collaboration and achievement of outcomes.

What we’d like to see

  • Have 2+ years of experience in a similar role - including user research, wire framing, visual design, UI design, UX process
  • Have experience in preparing and facilitating usability testing, stakeholder and user interviews, observational research and UX workshops
  • Thrive in a multi-product, agile environment
  • Great communication skills
  • A team player, willing to work collaboratively and achieve shared goals.

If this is you, or if you’ve got the skills and the excitement to do it, then we’d love to see your portfolio and have a chat with you. Please apply online or email peter@talent.army.
